Matthew 25 Ministry
CURRENT AND UPCOMING MATTHEW25 MINISTRY PROJECTS

Lenten Meat Drive 2026
How many times in your life can you remember being told to live by example? Throughout Lent, we are on this journey to change. Father John made a wonderful reference to St. John Climacus this past Sunday as he talked about the book The Ladder of Divine Ascent. Matthew 25 is trying to find its footing on this rung of the ladder. It’s not an easy book to follow or understand. We hope, as a ministry, to make a few climbs to serve ourselves, our church, our ministry, and, most importantly, our community. It often feels daunting to communicate with our pantries and to hear about the needs and stories of so many good people who just can’t make ends meet. Most people come from good homes, but all walks of life. We find sickness to be one of the most disheartening. We never judge, just offer support. Our tables will be full in a few weeks, and we want to make a difference.
Living by example involves embodying Christ's image. As ministry leaders, we often ask ourselves, “What would Christ do in our situation?” He encourages us to keep sharing our message of giving. Now that we're past the halfway mark of Lent, we need your support to finish our work. We depend on parishioners, ministries, neighbors, family, and friends to help us fulfill our mission. So far, we've delivered food to our pantries twice. Our liaison for Somerton Interfaith greatly appreciates our efforts on behalf of their community. The gratitude we receive is usually expressed through us rather than directly to us. Seeds of Hope and its volunteers know us well and remind us that “God is so good, aligning us with them.” Our motivation isn’t thanks but the need and awareness that inspire us to keep giving. Thank you for supporting us. Remember our Goya partnership for pasta and sauce, and note that we have a large order from the Giant in Chalfont this Thursday, along with purchases of hams and chickens for Focus Philadelphia.

Winter Storm Update
“Paying it forward’ surfaced in Matthew 25 this week and exemplifies true kindness when genuinely practiced. On Friday, Seeds of Hope sent an SOS just an hour before opening because most market deliveries were delayed by an approaching storm. The pantry was nearly empty. Too often, we’re preoccupied with our own storms, forgetting how it affects those less fortunate. We hurried out to buy bread—white and whole wheat—difficult to find due to dwindling supplies — and picked up eggs. At Seeds of Hope, we met a volunteer who was also a recipient of our Angel Tree. She lives about 40 minutes away and volunteers all her food to those in need. She tearfully shared how our donations helped her during a tough year, especially a Christmas gift from the church for her daughter. She declared she’ll pass on that generosity to others once she’s back on her feet. Though we don’t often see it, her act of volunteering already paid forward the kindness. It’s touching to witness such goodness and acts of kindness, reinforcing that we are truly impact makers.
Please continue making donations through Vanco or by check. Your donations have a greater impact than you might realize. We rely on them to keep serving our communities.
We will work on a community service project in February, and in a few weeks, we will gather information about our Lenten Meat Drive.
Stay warm and safe as we all work to recover from this extremely cold winter.

MISSION
Our mission is to share our love of Christ with needy neighbors. We aim to serve and live out our faith by raising parish awareness of food insecurities in our community.
