Orthodox Christian Baptism

Holy Baptism is the basic and fundamental Holy Mystery (sacrament) of the Eastern Orthodox Church through which a person is accepted into the Orthodox Church and becomes part of the Mystical Body of Christ. Through the grace of the Holy Spirit, the person who is baptized is cleansed of original sin and is counted among the chosen people of God.

We ask that you schedule Baptism at least three (3) months in advance with Father John.  Traditionally, a baby is baptized at six (6) months of his/her life. Please call Father John at the Church Office, (215)635-0316, to set up a time to meet with him.

In the meantime, in order for this sacrament to be celebrated with the proper dignity and solemnity, we offer the following instructional Orthodox Christian Baptism Guidelines to help parents and godparents prepare for this special occasion. Please read these instructions carefully and bring any questions you may have to the meeting with Fr. John.
